内容説明
This collection of papers by scholars marks the fourth centenary of the birth of the philosopher Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679). It is the first volume in a series sponsored by the Mind Association which focuses attention on a specific topic or event discussed at a major conference. These papers provide views on central aspects of Hobbes's life and work, and testify to his enduring importance as a major philosopher. They help to unravel aspects of his intellectual biography which are relevant to a proper appreciation of his philosophy.
