Description and Table of Contents
Description
This book is based on the 8th World Congress on Animal, Plant and Microbial Toxins, held in August 1985. The congress was concerned with the effects of natural toxins from diverse sources on man and animals. The contributions to the book are from clinicians, veterinarians, and scientists who share a common interest in natural toxins and are acknowledged authorities in their fields. The first chapters offer an overview of the problem of natural poisoning. These are followed by chapters on the isolation, modes of action, and metabolism of natural toxins. The final section of the book is devoted to a series of discussions on the development and use of antivenoms and antitoxins for the treatment of the victims of natural toxins. Although this publication presents original findings in many topical fields of toxicology, it is intended to provide the reader with a sound review of the field and should prove to be an authoritative statement for several years.
