Description

This book, based on unpublished archival material of the period, unveils some hitherto unknown aspects of medieval Indian history, 1507-1528. The growth of Islam in the coastal regions of India, the economic life of the Indian Ocean at the time of early Portuguese expeditions, and the beginnings of the first European colonization of India, are all brought into sharper focus in an account of the activities of the Mappila chief of Cannamore - the ancestor of the Ali Rajas. Scholars and students of Indian history.
