内容説明
The subject of nuclear power is one of the most politically controversial in contemporary Britain. The proposal by the Central Electricity Generating Board to seek ministerial consent for Britain's first American-designed pressurized water reactor at Sizewell B near Aldeburgh, Suffolk, caused probably the most contentious national energy decision in recent years. The government established a wide-ranging public inquiry to assure the public that the proposal would be thoroughly and independently examined, but the Sizewell B Inquiry itself became embroiled in controversy. The book is the only authoritative independant assessment of that unique event. The author looks at the context, conduct and content of the Inquiry and suggests how politically charged projects like Sizewell B should be handled in the light of the Sizewell B experience.
