Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book explores the tribe "antirrhineae" which includes snapdragons and toadflaxes and belongs to the figwort family. In some classifications it is treated as an independent family. This monograph draws upon a database of about 4000 plant names and more than 1300 publications on the taxonomy of the "antirrhineae". Scanning electron microscopy has made possible the survey of seed morphology which provides a rich source of characters for testing existing classifications. The descriptions cover 27 genera representing 328 species, including 27 new taxa. Areas of taxonomic controversy discussed include the generic delimitation and supraspecific classificaton of "linaria".
