Description
An examination of the issues raised by the choice of trade strategies for the promotion of industrialization and economic growth by focusing on the experience of the Iberian economies during the process of their phased integration with the European community. In this volume, several economists examine the experience of the Iberian countries with their preferential trading arrangements with the EEC and EFTA in an effort to ascertain the effectiveness of these arrangements as part of a comprehensive strategy for economic development. Considering the fact that these preferential trading arrangements were designed to act as "incubators" for the progressive integration of the Iberian countries with the European Community, the book also examines how far they achieved the objective of preparing the two economies for full membership of the European community.
