This book covers, in handy guide form, the various official and semi-official sources of information that are open to parents, such as inspectors reports, school handbooks, council papers and government publications. The book aims to help parents make sensible decisions about their children's schooling in Scotland and sound judgements about the way educational services are run. Sections are included on school reports and records, published examination results, and other school information, with guidance on how to read these documents, and pitfalls to watch out for. Part two of the guide aims to show how to put the information to practical use. The book would be of interest to school staff, school council members, elected representatives and others whose work brings them into contact with parents.
