内容説明

Public duties are being increasingly considered in courts of law and involve such questions as whether a citizen can compel the delivery of mail during a postal strike, or the enforcement of a statute by the police. This book uncovers the principles and the remedies which have been or should be applied in cases involving public law. The author examines the basis on which courts review public duties and discusses the doctrinal approaches which are revealed by the case law in the light of modern notions of public law, arguing that public duties should be taken much more seriously by the courts. The author has provided examples of case law on public duties, particularly from England and Australia. Practising lawyers, particularly those involved in administrative law, academic lawyers, public lawyers and law students should find this text useful.
