内容説明
In this text the author postulates a behavioural inhibition system whose activity constitutes anxiety. He considers the structure and operation of this system, and goes on to discuss the effects of long-term stress, the role of the behavioural inhibition system in depressive illness, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive behaviour, and the modes of action of drugs, surgery, and behaviour therapy. The anxious personality is considered in the final chapter.
