Description
The investigation of children with haematological abnormalities must be treated separately from adults with the same condition, as sampling techniques and the sequence of investigations differ. The aim of this reference work is to outline the appropriate tests given to children to facilitate diagnosis of both common and rare haematological conditions. Topics discussed include specific neonatal problems, platelet and clotting factor abnormalities and the problems faced by children with recurrent infections. Emphasis has been placed on case studies at the end of each chapter which should be viewed as a framework for the investigation of children with possible haematological disorders.
