Description and Table of Contents

Description

The number of investigations available to help in the diagnosis of paediatric renal disease has grown markedly in the past decade, much of this growth being in the area of urinary tract imaging. The aim of this reference work is to outline a rational approach to the investigation of children with renal problems, and to provide treatment which eliminates unnecessary tests and discomfort. This text has been designed primarily for junior doctors, but should also benefit consultant paediatricians and non-specialist clinicians. It indicates clearly those types of investigations which are available from district general hospitals. Where special investigations are needed, outline details are provided to assist with the decision about referring to paediatric nephrological or urological services.
