内容説明

The isolation and characterization of the hypothalamic releasing hormone LHRH in 1971 allowed researchers to begin to investigate the complex nature of the feedback control of pituitary gonadotrophin secretion. Further research explored the use of synthetic analogues of LHRH and their effects in diverse gynaecological and female reproductive disorders. Although in many clinical conditions the ultimate role of LHRH analogues has still to be established, their value in others is clearly apparent. Safety data accruing with regard to general metabolic and biochemical parameters suggests the need for careful studies to determine recommended dosage, formulation and duration of use of these compounds. This book brings together the current research results of a group of international colleagues, many of whom have been involved in the study of LHRH and its analogues since the earliest clinical trials. The contributors have produced a detailed review of the role of LHRH compounds in gynaecological practice, which the authors hope will encourage individual readers to undertake further practice and research.
