内容説明

Now that its practice has taken the bloom off the theory of monetarism, it is becoming easier to evaluate it. The 8th in the series of Keynes Seminars, which was held at the University of Kent at Canterbury in November 1987, was devoted to such an assessment. This book is a record of the proceedings of the seminar. The discussion revolves round four papers which explore the meaning of monetarism, the differing forms it has taken in practice, its political appeal and its current standing with the object of examining the ways monetarism is related - either directly or in reaction - to Keynes's views on money. Over half the book deals with the application of monetarism in Britain has distinctive features not possessed by its Chicago parent; and its practitioners in Britain have been less concerned with applying an economic doctrine than with redressing the balance of political power.
