内容説明

This work examines the case study as a methodological paradigm within sociology, psychology and criminology and within the social sciences generally. The examination is in three parts, of which the first two are a critical appraisal of the method's strengths and weaknesses. The third section demonstrates, by example, how the method is applied, with a sample case study; in this instance, that of a young, male, bisexual drug abuser.

目次

Contents: Of seven chapters, the first introduces the work, stating its purpose and the historical role of case study. Following chapters deal with a definition of terms, methodological invalidities, subjectivity and inductive method, evaluation criteria and an exemplary case study. This work offers a critical evaluation of case study method along with a neutral guide to its use.
