Description

This book explores the roots of contemporary beliefs about truancy. The author argues that current beliefs about truancy are intrinsically linked with prevalent views about the significance of particular patterns of schooling. The argument is developed through a discussion of state policies on the regulation of schooling in 19th century Scotland.
