Description

This aims to offer a comprehensive but simple treatment of the basic principles of structural members, using elementary mathematics. It introduces the limit state method of design adopted by the British Standard Institution, whilst retaining most of the permissible stress (elastic method) design material. All design data is based on current BSI codes of Practice and Specifications, and it includes numerous illustrations at the end of each chapter for exam practice. The text covers the BTEC Level III unit in Structural Mechanics, though it should also be useful to students taking certificate, diploma and degree courses in architecture, building, surveying and civil engineering. An ELBS/LPBB edition is available.
