Description and Table of Contents
Description
"Debt, Adjustment and Recovery" analyses some of the most important aspects of Latin America's debt crisis. Its chapters present the causes of the crisis and prospects for a solution. The analyses are mainly forward-looking and try to envisage possible patterns of development in Latin America in the post-crisis era. The book is divided into two parts: the first includes chapters dealing with general aspects of the crisis. They include a historical analysis of the 1930s and a theoretical evaluation of Latin America's political constraints for growth. The second part deals with specific country studies that cover the most important debtors - Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia. The contributors include Eliana Cardosa, William Cline, Rudiger Dornbusch, Barry Eichengreen, Carlos Rodriguez and John Williamson.
