内容説明

To a surprizing extent, Vergil avoids artifices of poetic diction like archaism and grecism, preferring ordinary language and words that were the stock of the Latin tongue. With this approach, he shared the taste of his contemporary Horace. This work attempts to identify and categorize the nuances of Vergil's diction and to show how his sometimes unpromising material was converted by his methods of "combination" into poetry. The author also attempts to explain Vergilian "narrative through imagery" and "incitement" and "acquisition" techniques.
