Description

Having emerged in 1945 from the shackles of Nazi ideology, German women played a major and hitherto neglected part in postwar economic and social reconstruction. This work examines the developments in their position in the labour market, family and education and within politics. Special attention is paid to legislation relating to women's position within the family and at work and the effects of European rulings on equal opportunities.
