Clinical cytology has been established as a routine diagnostic tool in the pathology laboratory and the techniques developed allow the examination of cells from almost any site in the body. The application of cytological techniques has proved successful not only in the early diagnosis of malignant conditions, but also in the diagnosis and monitoring of many other pathological conditions.
