内容説明
High-definition Television (HDTV) is the target for the next step in television. The timing for its practical implementation and diffusion will be largely dependent on the concurrent evolution of several technical fields and will widely influence different business sectors. This workshop was held in response to a continuing need for a technical, international and interdisciplinary forum to aid the definition of HDTV and foster its introduction. It has been recognised that in this phase of development of HDTV the goals of this forum can be best achieved through cooperation and discussion on the broadest possible basis across the technical communities. Managed by professionals from all over the world, the workshop represented the technical communities and the companies which have a major stake in the development of HDTV. The interdisciplinary nature of the workshop was emphasised by the cooperation of the major professional societies interested in the themes presented. The 66 papers include contributions from leading international experts in the different technology fields on the likely evolutions that can be expected in the coming years.
