内容説明

The implementation of ISDN marks the beginning of a new era in the history of telecommunications. Its significance can only be compared to the introduction of the automatic telephone service in the past. From quite a different angle, the use of computers in the network is at the origin of a new discipline for both users and network operators. Both developments will really start to have an impact on telecommunications in the 1990's. They will play an essential part in the evolution of the largest and most complex of machines - Telecommunications Networks. This book is the result of NETWORKS '89, the fourth in a series of triennial symposia, which offer network planners and telecommunications experts a forum for the analysis of the most relevant issues. The 55 research papers collected here show that it will not be an easy task to plan such networks, especially when the objectives of minimum cost and subscriber satisfaction are taken into account. This is the challenge now faced by network planners, and this is the reason for this book.
