内容説明
These proceedings are the latest in a series summarising the results of the Commission of the European Communities' Concerted Action COST 681 programme `Treatment and Use of Organic Sludges and Liquid Agricultural Wastes'. Comprising 55 technical papers from leading experts, the book will be of direct interest to agricultural and farm waste specialists, process and development engineers, municipal and planning engineers, university and industrial research chemists, and environmentalists. A new European Community directive due to be implemented soon will make it more difficult to dispose of sludge on agricultural land. When this measure is combined with the growing objections to sea disposal and the limited possibilities for landfilling, it is being recognised that there is increasing pressure to find alternative avenues of disposal of the growing quantities of sewage sludge. Greater use of incineration is being seen as a suitable route; five contributions look in detail at various aspects of this technique.
