Description
This case-study follows the Assisted Places Scheme announced by the Conservative Government in 1979. It looks at its origins in the private sector, the mobilization of political support for the scheme and its implementation and subsequent expansion. Overall, the book provides a preliminary evaluation of the scheme in terms of its benefits and costs for individual pupils and for the educational system.
