There is now convincing evidence that a large number of clinical laboratory tests are potentially open to misinterpretation due to the influence of drugs and other factors. Doctors cannot accurately interpret the results of laboratory investigations unless they have a full knowledge of how the drugs that are being taken by the patient can inflence the test result. There have been many reports of patients undergoing complex investigations to look for possible reasons for abnormal test results, only to discover that these were entirely due to drugs being taken by the patient. This book, which is based on a databank held on the University of Surrey computer, will contain a summary of the published effects of drugs on laboratory tests and will provide essential information for all those involved in the interpretation of clinical laboratory tests. The book contains 11,000 entries, over 3,500 references, 79 tests in 9 groups, 792 drugs and 347 other factors affecting test results. US drug and test names are given.
