Description
Economic intelligence on Japan was disseminated in the last months of World War II through Special Articles and Notes in the Weekly Summary of the Joint Intelligence Committee of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington. The editing and writing of this economic intelligence was the responsibility of this book's author, Shannon McCune, as the Foreign Economic Administration's representative on the Joint Intelligence Staff. The Weekly Summary has been declassified, so that these materials are now available. They give a measured and contemporary view of Japan's economic collapse as it was going on in 1945. Contents: Economic Intelligence; The Pacific War; Japan's Economy in 1945; Japan's Economic Collapse in 1945; Japan's Defeat in August 1945; Subsequent Views on Japan's Economy; and Background Articles.
