Description and Table of Contents
Description
This book describes the development of a process in which the kinetic data are the starting point, rather than a postulated mechanism that is checked for consistency with the kinetic data. This approach is comparable to the systematic scheme of qualitative analysis of inorganic chemistry. It focuses on the dependence of a reaction rate on the concentrations of the reactants. It also uses the influences of temperature, pressure, substituents, and solvents on the reaction rate and linear free energy relationships as clues to the reaction mechanism.
