内容説明
This new edition aims to build on the strength of earlier editions, but also takes some new directions which makes it a useful practical reference tool. Over the years, new regulatory safety requirements have come into effect. This edition brings managers and laboratory personnel up-to-date on effective programs designed to meet the needs of these new regulatory standards. Also, regulations in areas outside the immediate operations of the laboratory are considered. For example, laboratory operations must be performed in code complying facilities, hazardous waste disposal is now highly regulated, and right-to-know legislation covers not only risks to laboratory personnel but the nearby community if a release or spill escapes off-site. In addition to coverage of safety regulations, new information on safe operations is also considered. Areas concerned with the health aspects of health and safety programs are addressed. Subjects discussed include AIDS, control of laboratory infections, recombinant DNA, carcinogenic effects, teratogenic effects and medical surveillance programs.
