内容説明
Assessing the failure of liberal nationalism in Iran, this book explores a movement that has had little success in the developing world. Dr Siavoshi examines the movement's three major opportunities and subsequent failures to gain political power in Iran - the latest during the 1977-1979 revolution. Addressing the key question of whether the failure of liberal nationalism can be blamed on structural constraints or is the result of the movement's own internal dynamics, she argues that a complex interplay between these elements, against the backdrop of global power politics, defeated the movement in Iran. Dr Siavoshi concludes with an assessment of the future prospects for a secular-liberal-nationalist movement in post-revolutionary Iran.
