内容説明

This book presents recent findings in the research on modality of animal perception, particularly the ability to sense feeble electrical fields. Included is a new treatment of electric organs and their control, an examination of receptors and their ionic mechanisms, and discussion of regeneration of the spinal cord. The book uses electric fish as models, and systematically treats the principal taxa of animals exhibiting electroreception, particularly in respect to central anatomy and physiology. The subject of evolution is covered thoroughly throughout the book.
