内容説明

Distributed systems are now in use in a wide range of computer applications and are being considered as a "first candidate" whenever a new application emerges. Although some of the design and implementation principles of such systems have been widely understood and accepted there are still some issues which are subject to current research and likely to influence the next generation of distributed computing systems. The idea behind compiling this book was borne from a workshop which was held in July 1987 at Teesside Polytechnic. The workshop aimed to bring together both theoreticians and practitioners in the field of distributed computing systems. It was decided to present the book as a reference book rather than merely a workshop proceedings. The book is intended for those who are already working in the distributed computing field and for those who have just started, for example MSc and PhD students.

目次

  • Part 1 Surveys: distributed operating systems
  • concepts and notations for concurrent programming
  • load balancing algorithms in loosely-coupled distributed systems - a survey. Part 2 Special topics: debugging distributed real-time applications - a case study in Ada
  • reliable systems in Occam
  • the architecture of real-time distributed databases for computer network monitoring
  • a distributed model of computation for combinatory code
  • Issac - a high-level distributed language.
