Confronting the problem of agricultural pollution, researchers from around the world discuss policies for reconciling agricultural productivity with water quality protection. Although many countries have adopted policies and implemented programs - some incentive-based, and some regulatory - to control agricultural pollution, policy makers are becoming increasingly concerned about conflicts among the goals of environmental protection, agricultural productivity, farm income assistance and international trade competitiveness.
