The text focuses on the available evidence at all levels of organization across all taxa of subterranean mammals. It is the first unified volume that facilitates comparisons and evaluation of convergent and divergent patterns across phylogeny, biogeography and ecology. It highlights evolutionary patterns of subterranean insectivore (Talpidae and Chrysochloridae) and subterranean herbivore (Geomyidae, Ctenomyinae, Spalacidae, Bathyergidae, Rhizomyidae) mammals.
