内容説明・目次
内容説明
A team of internationally acknowledged authorities have contributed chapters to this volume on Parkinson's disease, which attempts to give a scholarly, detailed, comprehensive and well-referenced account of this ubiquitous disease of the central nervous system. It includes a historical account of the life and times of James Parkinson including his scientific achievements, contributions from the relevant neurosciences - functional neuroanatomy, clinical neurophysiology of the basal ganglia, neurochemistry, experimental psychology and neuropathology, as well as the experimental background to brain grafts. Also included is an up-to-date discussion on the latest clinical experience with transplant surgery. The clinical section covers aetiologies, epidemiology, clinical features and differential diagnoses, neuropsychiatric aspects, methods of assessment, the many facets of medical and surgical treatments, and concludes with an attempt to assess the present and future potential of research. This book should be of interest to neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropathologists and neuropharmacologists.
