内容説明

The author in this book discusses whether there is a female style of writing and how it may be related to concepts of "difference". She examines how French, English and American theories of how women's creative imagination and use of language may differ from conventional literary norms in relation to the work of five of the best 20th century French women novelists. Although their attitudes towards the idea of "writing as a women" vary widely, Colette, Nathalie Sarraute, Marguerite Yourcenar, Marguerite Duras and Monique Wittig all share a rejection of rigid sexual roles, fixed literary forms and traditional moral concepts. The author has also written "Camus", "Proust", "Paul Nizan - Ecrivain" and "The Writings of Camera Laye".
