内容説明

The authors of this book are the experts - street prostitutes, exotic dancers, nude models, escorts, porn actresses and workers in massage parlours - and they testify to the realities of sex work. They describe feeling totally in control, totally victimized and everything in between; their words are at times pained and poetic, at others, gritty and raw. These first-person accounts are accompanied by analytical articles, and documents about collective organizing by sex workers. It is a mix of personal statements, short stories, political essays, poetry and historical research, as well as the polemic "The Continuing Saga of Scarlot Harlot". It highlights the laws which legalize entrapment and a double standard that views the serial murders of prostitutes as non-crimes, not worthy of investigation. Frederique Delacoste is the co-publisher of Cleis Press and co-edited "Fight Back! Feminist Resistance to Male Violence". Priscilla Alexander is co-director of COYOTE and executive director of the National Task Force on Prostitution.
