Description and Table of Contents

Description

Behavioural medicine is a major growth area in clinical psychology, as psychologists have come to realize the potential which exists for psychological treatment of physical disease. There are many books dealing with the theoretical, experimental and technical developments in the area, but this book details the methods of assessment and treatment. The work considers the practice of psychological methods in both the assessment and management of selected problems in behavioural medicine. All the authors have specialist clinical experience of work in behavioural medicine and describe methods used in his or her particular area, in enough detail to allow clinical psychologists to embark upon the assessment and treatment of particular disorders. Although the book is intended primarily for clinical psychologists, both qualified and in training, it should also be of interest to medical and paramedical professionals.
