内容説明

The role of the aid programmes from the countries of the North in the achievement of economic development by the countries of the South is of central importance in the modern world economy, yet there is widespread misunderstanding of the purpose and structure of aid schemes and even a great lack of basic information on the organization, function and effectiveness of aid agencies and their clients. This book seeks to fill this information gap by providing an analysis of world-wide aid programmes, together with a comprehensive directory of aid organizations, multinational, national and non-governmental. This is complemented by a detailed annotated bibliography on the topic and statistical section, presenting material both in tabular and chart form. The author is an experienced economist with the United Nations, who has over a decade of first-hand experience with aid programmes and access to information resources.
