Description and Table of Contents
Description
This is part of a four-volume series which contains the papers and personal diaries of James Meade, one of the earliest British economists to serve in government as a member of the Economic Section of the Cabinet Offices, of which he became Director immediately after World War II, succeeding Lionel Robbins. Meade was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1977 (jointly with Bertil Shlin) for his contribution to international economics. This volume contains Meade's diary from November 1944, when he was appointed Director of the Cabinet's Economic Section, until September 1946. It provides detailed personal insight into how British economic affairs were directed at the end of World War II.
