Description

This lecture gives examples, both serious and amusing, of how a study of the various editions of Rabelais published during and after his lifetime can clear up errors, throw new light on Rabelais' meaning and help us to look critically at the myth of a "popular" Rabelais. The work should be of interest to students of the French Renaissance, bibliographers and librarians. M.A. Screech is also author of "Rabelais".
