内容説明
The regular appearance of the issue of censorship in libraries is as predictable as any problem in library management, given that a considerable part of the daily work of libraries is to select or reject from amongst the vast amount of published work currently available at any time. This pamphlet examines the weakness and indecisiveness of the profession in cases of censorship. It analyzes the vagueness and contradictions of censorship legislation; questions the vagaries of political interference at both local and government level; and attempts to determine whether the professional librarian in the UK is capable of assuming an effective role in a stand against censorship or will simply continue to drift with the prevailing social and political climate.
