This collection of twenty-seven papers reflects the current state of adrenoceptor pharmacology and many of the remarkable new developments that have occurred recently in the field. The papers were presented at the University of Manchester in 1984 before a satellite symposium of the Ninth International Congress of Pharmacolgy. The book covers the major areas of adrenoceptor pharmacology - classification, biochemistry, cellular electrophysiology, release modulation, and clinical aspects - and also discusses the distribution of various types of adrenoceptors in the central nervous system, as well as the pattern of regional differences between brain structures. Forty-three contributed papers are included as poster communications.
