The outlook for patients with primary malignant brain tumours remains gloomy. These lethal tumours make a particular impact, not only in neurological medicine and surgery, but also in society in general. The audience addressed consists both of post-graduate clinicians in the relevant fields of neurology, neurosurgery and oncology, and basic neuroscientists interested in the field.
