内容説明

This text goes beyond the traditional mouse model to examine the transfer of genetic material in a wide range of species including pigs, sheep, chickens and several species of fish. The work explains how animal transgenesis is being employed as a model for human diseases, describing innovative programs for domestic animals that use subtle approaches to achieve disease resistance, controlled reproduction, increased growth and production and the development of transgenic protein production units. The volume further reveals the tremendous progress made in transgenesis using non-replicating retroviral vectors, citing this approach as an important step in increasing the frequency of transgenic production.
