内容説明
The international system has gone through major changes since World War II. One of the main areas affected has been power relations between nations. Analyzing power in international politics has always been a difficult task and in recent years has come under more scrutiny than ever before. Many have argued that the concept is irrelevant in the contemporary, "interdependent" world. The text contends that power remains a vital concept to understanding contemporary international politics. After presenting both sides of this issue, the author uses empirical data to analyze the contention that the system has become so interdependent that new concepts are needed. Other chapters investigate empirical work in power in the contemporary world, recent theoretical advances that have drawn on previous work on power and the role of power in the contemporary world.
