Description and Table of Contents

Description

Drawing on historical records of the British brewing industry, this text contains systematic listings of particular areas and groups of companies. It has been designed to offer a working research tool to a range of economic and business historians. The listings presented have been compiled from many sources, including brewing companies, trade associations, record offices, libraries and museums. The book includes an introduction which attempts to highlight some of the questions a researcher might ask about the archive sources listed in this volume in relation to the development of the industry. The volume includes a brief history of the British brewing industry since 1750, a guide for the user and a description of the nature and use of brewing archives.
