内容説明

The control of virus diseases remains one of the great challenges of medical science; the eradication of smallpox has provided a major success story for medical research whilst the relentless increase in AIDS presents new challenges to be overcome. This volume provides an authoritative and timely account of the two major weapons in the fight against virus disease: immunisation and chemotherapy. The first half of the volume deals with the development and use of vaccines as part of an immunisation programme. The second half looks at the role of chemotherapy in the control and therapy of diseases such as influenza, hepatitis and AIDS. Overall the volume aims to provide an up to date account of the most promising areas of research and an evaluation of their potential role in the control of virus disease.
