内容説明
The "Sociology in Action" series for A and AS level sociology and related courses is designed to involve students actively in their study of the subject. Investigative in approach, this book involves students by showing them how they can "use" the media in a practical way to understand the issues presented. A major feature of this book is the study of the relationship between the media and society in general. Examples include looking at images of women and the family, the representation of different races and coverage of crime. Topics include recent development in the media such as video, cable, databases and bulletin boards, satellite TV and new printing technologies, bias and the media, the social implications of the media, the relationship between capitalism and technologies, and perspectives and methods in study. There are a variety of activities including stimulus-response, essays and ideas for coursework, illustrations which play a central role and end of chapter bibliographies.
