内容説明
Increasing use of parks, wilderness and other natural environments for recreational purposes has led to the recurrent observation that "managing the resource" is not enough. Human and social factors must be managed as well. Wider recognition of this fact has provided considerable impetus for the use of social science theory and data as a means of enhancing recreational experiences without causing damage to environmental resources. This book illuminates the conceptual foundations of recreational resource management, drawing on social science approaches and on detailed case studies. The authors address traditional topics such as the assessment of user experiences, preferences and values, but they also explore two relatively new areas: tourism (marketing resource recreation) and the interactions between agencies, indigenous or local residents and recreation seekers.
