Description
In this book, eight labour market economists and educational analysts take an in-depth look at the ongoing transformation of work in the service sector and the implications this has for the education and training of U.S. workers. Analyzing both macro-level labour market and educational data as well as case studies of firms in retail and business services, the contributors argue that, despite the disproportionate growth of low-wage employment in the services, considerable evidence exists that skills, including those of many low-paid workers, are being upgraded throughout the sector.
